Catania meets French Minister Le Maire
"The meeting with Minister Bruno Le Maire was the opportunity to address issues that, at European level, affect the agriculture and fisheries sectors. During our meeting, which was particularly successful, we were able to confirm the correspondence of ideas between the governments of both our countries on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy. We also talked about the difficult situation of the vegetable and fruit sector and we addressed the topic of the rights of vine planting, a very important issue for the protection of both Italian and French excellent wine productions. On all the issues we have experienced strong convergence ".
This declared the Minister of agricultural food and forestry policies, Mario Catania, at the end of the meeting, held at the Ministry, with the French Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Bruno Le Maire.
"On the CAP, Minister Catania added, Minister Le Maire assured me France’s support to ensure that the EU aid breakdown protects the interests of Italian farmers. This is an issue which I consider a priority, and I register with satisfaction the support of the French. With Minister Le Maire we also talked about the approved milk package: its negotiations were conducted together and together we obtained a fundamental result, introducing the possibility of scheduling the production. The ‘quality’ package is an equally important challenge that we will address with the same commitment."
